Before the day ends, I want to talk to you all about setting goal and how to achieve them. I find this most important because I feel it helps give us a purpose in life, a reason to LIVE and not just exist. When you set goals, you start to have priorities. Priorities are also important but we'll get into that another time. To have a goal is extremely important and something you must be S.M.A.R.T. about. It sounds simple but there's more to it than just that. You must be Specific, meaning what do YOU want to do? Next, your goal must be Measurable. Know what you want to do is a step forward but you must have a goal that is measurable because if there looks as if there is no light at the end of the tunnel or end to the race, there becomes no point of trying to accomplish it. Then, there is Achievable. This goes right along with measurable, if it's not measurable then how would it possibly be seem achievable. Taking all this into consideration, the following step is to be Realistic. This is a must, you can't set an unrealistic goal in hopes of achieving something that will never be obtainable for you. Lastly, your goals must be Timely. Set small goals so you can achieve it in a reasonable time so you can make another and crush that one as well. These 5 things are key to setting goals. I've used this method throughout my military career and carried it over on the civilian side. Think about this, next time I will go into detail along with plugging in my goals. Well, it's my time.... goodnight everyone!
